Valentina Nergararian, project manager in Yerevan, says in English:
“We are the first partners of Erzgebirge in this project and we want to combine the cultural elements to glocalize the Erzgebirge experience here in Armenia. And this is something that the German team will also do with the Ore Mountains in the future, for example, Nagasaki or Kazakhstan.
We are working with different construction companies and are looking at levels like these because we want to create a link between historical places, or landscape symbols like Mount Ararat, with the “Ore Mountains” project development in Yerevan. Me and my team are looking around and want to create a link to the Zvartnots Cathedral, which has also been reconstructed but remains a ruin.
There are defined cultural symbols in Armenia, and the Ore Mountains have defined symbols, so we want to combine them so that people from the Ore Mountains can come here and recognize symbols from their own culture. And maybe in the future Armenia can also exist in Schneeberg.”

Als Teil meiner kuenstlerischen Aktivitäten in der sächsischen Erzgebirgsregion habe ich zusammen mit der Kunsthistorikerin und Kuratorin Sandy Becker das künstlerische Forschungsprogramm “ost in space” gegründet. Die Region stellt einen einzigartigen Ausgangspunkt dar, um eurasische Geschichte(n) und hidden histories zwischen dem Erzgebirge und der Welt zu erkunden.
Vom 7.-8. Oktober fand ein interdisziplinaeres Symposium an der Fakultaet fuer Angewandte Kunst in Schneeberg statt.

ost in space ist eine Kooperation von Sandy Becker und Beatrice Schuett Moumdjian mit dem ASA-FF e.V., begleitet im Rahmen des Programms neue unentd_ckte narrative 2025. Das Programm neue unentd_ckte narrative 2025 wird gefördert durch das Bundesprogramm “Demokratie leben!”, Weltoffenes Sachsen und mitfinanziert durch den Kulturraum der Stadt Chemnitz. Dieses Jahr erhaelt ost in space Foerderung von der KdFS. ost in space wird vom Resonanzraum Erzgebirge e.V. getragen.

As part of my artistic activities in the Ore Mountains region, I founded the artistic research program “ost in space” together with art historian and curator Sandy Becker. The region represents a unique starting point to explore Eurasian hidden history(ies) between the Ore Mountains and the world ('ost' means East in German).
From October 7-8 an interdisciplinary symposium took place at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg.
